Ti-Alliance Announces George C. Singer Scholarship Endowment Fund

August 9, 2022 Ticonderoga, NY – The Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance has announced the George C. Singer Scholarship Endowment Fund. The fund was established with a $100,000 donation from George Singer (seated) and his family, lifelong seasonal residents of Baldwin Road in Ticonderoga and longtime friends of Ti-Alliance. The return on the fund’s principal will sustainably finance Ti-Alliance Skilled Career Training Scholarships for years to come.

Singer graduated with the Dartmouth Class of 1950 and earned his MBA from the University of Pennslyvania. He had a successful career in finance with several firms, retiring from Morgan Stanley in 1993. In retirement, Singer pursued a lifelong passion for private press books and, along with his late wife Gloria, founded the Ashley Book Company in Burlington, Vermont. Singer is a strong advocate for education and a lifelong learner. He and his family are generous contributors to Ti-Alliance’s workforce development programs which provide opportunities for young people in our area.

Two additional contributions to the George C. Singer Scholarship Endowment Fund have been made by the Stuart Family Foundation and the Henry M. Rowan Foundation to lead off the fall fundraising campaign to grow the fund’s principal to $250,000 by 2023 to achieve even more financial sustainability for scholarships. Like Singer, the Stuart and Rowan families are generous supporters of education in our community.

The goal of Ti-Alliance’s Skilled Career Training Scholarships is to encourage students in our community to pursue careers in skilled trades, remove the barriers to the education needed for these careers, ensure student success, and hopefully have recipients live and practice their skills in our community. Each scholarship represents a commitment to the student for up to two academic years or the length of their program.

Ti-Alliance would like to thank George C. Singer and his family, including his three children, Lauren Waite, Rob Singer, and Meg Huffman, for establishing this endowment fund. It carries his name to honor his vision and passion for the practical skills that are the lifeblood of a healthy community. The Singer Family’s generosity will help local students access educational opportunities for generations to come.
